Letter: Thanks to many for a successful Trust in Art (Printed Oct. 26, 2007)

Editor:
It was a crisp, sunny morning on Oct. 14 when 40 artists gathered in Cape Porpoise to paint some of the most beautiful scenery in southern Maine – all properties protected by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.  As the artists munched on donuts and drank coffee donated by Congdon’s Doughnut Shop, the folks over at The Wayfarer prepared delicious hors d’oeuvres for an evening event called “Trust in Art.” This anticipated evening would showcase the artists’ paintings, and the proceeds of their auctioned works would benefit two dynamic nonprofit organizations – Heartwood College of Art and the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.  Meanwhile, people who had seen the stunning “Trust in Art” banner hanging over Atlantic Hall and the limited edition print of Goat Island Light, donated by Hunter Editions, flocked to the “Trust in Art” auction.  Thanks to major sponsor Kennebunk Savings Bank, the above-mentioned businesses, and the benevolent weather spirits, the “Trust in Art” fresh paint day was a great success!
We thank Tom Bradbury and the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, our partners in this event, and the many volunteers who contributed their time and energy to “Trust in Art.”   Finally, many thanks to the artists who captured the beauty of the Conservation Trust properties in their fabulous paintings, and to those who supported our two organizations by bringing those paintings home!  Let us continue to preserve the beauty of the land and appreciate the art that is so inspired by it.

Berri Kramer, President
Heartwood College of Art
