Letter: Join 2008 caucus Feb. 10 and register Democrat (Printed Jan. 18, 2008)

Editor:
All week I’ve been watching Iowa and New Hampshire with envy.  They are the deciders…or are they?  I’m excited that on Sunday, Feb. 10, towns will be caucusing all over Maine.  I plan to attend my local caucus that afternoon to make sure my voice is heard and to hear who my neighbors think is the right choice for Maine.
Anyone who will be 18-years-old by Election Day (Nov. 4, 2008) can caucus too.  Green or Republican Party members can switch parties at town hall by Jan. 26 and join us, and anyone not registered in a political party may become a registered Democrat at the caucus.  If you won’t be around that day, you can request an absentee ballot by contacting the Maine Democratic Party at 622-6233.  It has to be returned to them by 5 p.m. Feb. 6, so call now and get it in the mail before Feb. 4.
It’s our turn now…let’s all go and have our voices count!  Watch your paper for the time and location.  I’ll see you at the caucus!
