BSA Troop 330, Arundel, would like to thank you, the Post and all of its readers for all the help that you have given us during 2007. We contacted the Post for help in our search for troop canoes for our High Adventure Program. We have been very successful in our attempt. Thanks to you, the Post and its readers.
The response was heartwarming to say the least, which is why I’m writing this letter of appreciation and “Thanks”! We were able to meet a lot of wonderful supporters who gave us more than their no-longer used canoe, but words of encouragement for our scouting program. “Thank You” for that wonderful opportunity to hear from supporters who believe in our scouting program and its leaders. There were 22 of us (some only 11-years-old ) who traveled to Jackman late this summer and paddled down the Moose River into Moosehead Lake and back for a total of 55 miles of fun and adventure.
We had to portage both by hand and by trailer in some of the areas of the Moose River, but the adventure was well worth our efforts. We had a week to explore Long Pond, Little Brassua Lake, Brassua Lake and Moosehead Lake, where we paddled to Kineo Island to hike Mount Kineo and camped out at Hardscrabble Point. We were the guest of Randy and Debbie Petrin of Long Pond Cabins and Guide Service, where we set up our tents and used their location as our base camp. We had the best time and will never forget this wonderful experience of seeing what the state of Maine has to offer. On behalf of all of our scouts and its’ leaders, we would like to “Thank” all of you for your support and words of encouragement.
