Kelly J. Wentworth vies for empty Kennebunk selectmen’s seat (Printed Feb. 15, 2008)
Kelly J. Wentworth
47
Address: PO Box 551, West Kennebunk
Occupation: Operational consultant
Marital Status: Married
Spouse’s Name: Scott
Children: Two daughters: Sharisse, 20 and Karissa, 18
Education Completed: High school, some college
Past Political Experience: Selectman, Kennebunk for two terms (six years) from (1999 to 2005) I ran initially in 1999, candidates were myself and four other male candidates and I successfully won that campaign. In 2003, I ran again unopposed. I chose not to run again in 2005 due to time commitments. I am currently a member of the Kennebunk Human Resource Advisory Committee.
Top three issues: (in order of priority)
1. Town Budgets
2. Fate of Park Street School
3. Land ordinances in West Kennebunk
Why am I seeking office: I am proud to be a resident of Kennebunk and would be honored to represent our town as selectman. I would love some day for both my daughters to be able to live here and enjoy what Kennebunk has to offer. We are in difficult times right now and clearly it isn’t business as usual. We have challenges facing our town including the school consolidation efforts that have already had a financial impact on our town and will continue to impact our future mil rate as well as significant budget constraints that impact all departments. We, as a town, need to be fiscally responsible to these and other challenges that lie ahead. Again, it isn’t business as usual! Given my past selectmen experience, combined with my passion and drive to ensure we are making the best decisions for all our residents, is the perfect reason for me to run again. Additionally, given this election is for half a term only, the town needs a candidate with past selectmen experience who can hit the road running.
