Letter: Higgins stands by his word (June 6, 2008)

Three years ago, the majority of those who cast their votes in the June election, chose to place Bob Higgins on the Kennebunk Board of Selectmen.
From day one on the board, Bob has fulfilled his campaign promises to the community. He has approached his responsibilities as a selectman with energy, honesty, and integrity.
There is never a meeting that Bob’s inquisitive mind and ensuing questions, have not mirrored the thoughts that are those of most Kennebunk residents.
A true fiscal conservative, Bob recognizes the expenditure of every single tax dollar requires careful and thoughtful scrutiny to assure that our money is well spent and never wasted. Bob knows, and is a champion of, the difference between a real need, and a frivolous want.
Thanks to Bob’s efforts, Kennebunk now has a designated fund specifically set up to help those who struggle to pay their taxes. Without any doubt, Bob Higgins is a man of, and for, the people.
Raised here since he was a young child, his affection for Kennebunkers and his caring attitude for their well-being, is unsurpassed. On any given day, Bob is known to “make the rounds” of the town, always willing to listen to the concerns of one and all.
Also well known, is Bob’s “follow up list,” addressing those concerns during the “Selectman’s Comments” segment of each meeting of the board.
Ever faithful to his constituency, Bob Higgins is a man who stands by his word, acts quickly, and works tirelessly to make sure your comments and thoughts receive the attention they deserve.
With qualities such as these, there is no question in my mind as for whom I will cast my vote on June 10. It will be for Bob Higgins. I sincerely hope you will do the same.
