Letter: Thanks for caring (June 27, 2008)
Editor:
The United Way of York County held a “Day of Caring” on Wednesday, June 4. The Ever After Mustang Rescue Education and Training Center was one of many sites to participate. Area businesses sent employees that volunteered their time and talents to this endeavor and they were sent to their chosen job site. Each nonprofit had applied and listed their projects.
We gratefully thank Day of Caring for renovating a stall in memory of Tim Gagne, Jr. Tim had been a volunteer here and tragically died in a 2007 auto accident. This new stall will be a memorial to his passion for repairing things in this barn. We also want to thank his dad Tim Sr. for many hours in planning and preparing this project, Correct Deck of Biddeford for donating materials needed, the students from the New School in Kennebunk for all the work they did and to Richard LaChance for facilitating. At the end of the day a tree was planted as a living memorial to Tim. It will offer shade and comfort to the horses that will graze under its boughs. Tim’s mom and sister barbecued delicious hamburgers and hot dogs at lunch to round out a perfect day.
Thank you to all that participated. Thank you for this wonderful new stall and for making our rescued horses a little more comfortable.
