The Kennebunk Light and Power District (“KLPD”) has just announced a PLANNED POWER OUTAGE beginning Saturday, July 12th at 11:30 p.m. and ending no later than 5:30 a.m. Sunday, July 13th, 2008. Central Maine Power Co. (“CMP”) notified KLPD that similar substations in the state have been experiencing problems with some of their equipment located in those substations. To prevent an unexpected power failure, both utilities have been working together to determine when this work could be accomplished while causing the least disruption to the KLPD customers. CMP has assured personnel at KLPD that they will make every effort to make this outage as short as possible, but the need is to work safely and accurately. While customers should plan on a six-hour outage, power may be restored slightly earlier.
Those customers currently served off the new West Kennebunk substation will NOT be AFFECTED by this outage. Those customers are located in Lyman, West Kennebunk, those on Cat Mousam Road and the side streets off of Cat Mousam Road and Webber Hill Road and all side streets off of Webber Hill Road.
If it is raining on Saturday night the 12th, the work and thus the outage will take place at the same time the following Saturday evening, July 19th, beginning at 11:30 p.m.
