Letter: Fundraising for Robin (Oct. 3, 2008)
Editor:
On Aug. 22, Robin Levangie of Kennebunk was driving home on her scooter after a long day of pet sitting. Only a couple miles from home, she was struck by a vehicle. Thankfully, she was wearing a helmet, which saved her life, but she sustained serious injuries to her lower body as a result of the accident.
Robin currently has four steel rods protruding from her hip, a rod in her femur, tibia, and finger, a broken ankle, foot, wrist, stitches all over legs, and possible nerve damage – as she says, she’s “all broken.” She’s very thankful and overwhelmed by the love and support she’s received from family and friends. She feels blessed to be alive, and for those who know Robin, we’re blessed to have her with us.
As you can imagine, she has a very long road ahead, physically, mentally, and financially. Robin is independent, self-employed, and without disability or workers compensation insurance. Escalating medical costs and unemployment (due to disability) is a nightmare for anyone.
Robin’s friends and family are organizing fundraisers to help. The first fundraiser will be a garage sale on Oct. 11 and Oct. 12 (Sat and Sun.) at 440 Ferry Road in Saco. All proceeds will be donated to Robin’s trust. If you would like to make a contribution to Robin during this time of rehabilitation and disability, please feel free to contact Linda at 590-5348 for more information, or visit the garage sale. We look forward to seeing you there and thank you in advance. Your love and support is greatly appreciated.
