Letter: Bake sale raised $3,000 (Nov. 14, 2008)

AWSome! That’s all I can say about the outpouring of support at the Animal Welfare Society “Tri-town Bake Sales” on Nov. 4. The officials from Wells, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport were so pleasant and easy to work with. Local businesses, volunteers and AWS staff baked both dog biscuits and people food so that each location was brimming with breads, cookies, pies, etc.
The public was extremely generous, often giving money and not taking any goods, some people bought muffins for the folks in line behind them and many told stories of their adopted pets from Animal Welfare Society.
The purpose of the bake sale was to increase funds in the Spay Neuter low cost certificate program during “Kitten Season” and it did just that. The amount of money raised was astounding: $726.70 in Wells, $1,064.50 in Kennebunk and $1,303.30 in Kennebunkport with a total of $3,094.50! Many, many thanks to all who made this event such a huge success!!
