Letter: Recalibrating the possible (Nov. 14, 2008)
Editor:
I just had to share my excitement and genuine awe regarding the events that transpired on election night.
Regardless of whom you voted for – you must admit that we have just been part of history. And I, for one, am so proud of that. I know my euphoria may be short-lived; and I will soon come down to earth as I’m struck with the reality of the many hurdles our new president now faces. But right here and now – it just feels so amazing that we have actually elected someone young, new, inspiring, exciting, and African-American.
I think it speaks volumes as to what this country can do and can be. Quite frankly, it renews my faith in her. I look forward to a new relationship of bipartisan cooperation, and the rebuilding of our reputation overseas. It’s time the political parties of this country put away childish things, and finally work together truly as one nation. Congratulations to Barack Obama, and to all of us.
