Letter: Thanks from downtown committee (Jan. 9, 2009)

Editor:

The Kennebunk Downtown Committee would like to express its appreciation to those who helped make our 25th annual tree lighting so festive as Santa Claus lit the Becker Memorial Christmas Tree at Rotary Park.

We would like to thank the Kennebunk High School Chamber Choir who performed wonderfully under the direction of Matt Murray and the Choir of the Kennebunks. Both added much needed sparkle on a rainy evening.

Another big thanks to our corporate sponsors: Amisi, AndrewsMilligan Real Estate, Camden National Bank, The Café at Lafayette, The Comic Book Store, Duffy’s Tavern and Grill, The Downing Agency, Garden Street Market, The Kennebunk Inn, Kennebunk Savings Bank, Ocean Bank, Salon 96, Southern Maine Medical Center, Sportshoe Center and The Masiello Group for providing hot cider, cocoa, coffee, candy, goodie bags, eggnog, cookies, brownies, doughnut holes, fresh popcorn, a Yule log, comic books, bookmarkers and crackers.

In order to make this a reality each year, we extend our gratitude to the crew of Kennebunk Light and Power for their continuous work installing and maintaining all of the tree lights in our downtown.

On the night of the event, we are also grateful for the services of Brian Burns, John Downing, Sal Gebbia of the Masiello Group and attorney Steven Candors of Maine Legal Association.

It goes without saying that cooperation from our local police department, as well as the parks and recreation and public works departments is very important.

We truly appreciate Larry McIntyre and his team of horses for providing Santa’s ground transportation.

Linda Johnson
