Police notes (Jan. 9, 2009)
Kennebunk
Police received a call from a Ross Road resident reporting footprints in the snow surrounding the vacant neighbor’s house at 10:25 a.m. Dec. 23. Upon arrival, police discovered the residence had been burglarized.
The department’s patrol and criminal investigations division investigated the scene and collected evidence. The residents were away at the time of the burglary so the extent of loss is still being determined, and the crime remains under investigation.
Police received a 911 hang-up call at 1:45 a.m. Dec. 24 and a second call that the dispatcher was able to hear a female voice “out of breath,” but the caller was unable to speak. Officers were dispatched to the scene, and upon arrival no one responded. One officer spotted blood outside the residence, and called for assistance, which included two officers, a Kennebunkport Police Department corporal and a Wells Police Department corporal with his K-9.
Officers forced entry into the residence and located a female victim of domestic assault. She was escorted to an ambulance from Kennebunk Fire Rescue while the Wells Police K-9 located a man hiding in a closet. He initially resisted arrest, but complied when he learned officers had tasers. The 35-year-old man of Bear Hill Road in Hollis was arrested on charges of burglary and criminal trespass as well as a misdemeanor for violating conditions of release.
Police received a complaint from Huntington Common in regards to theft of a resident’s belongings, and charged a 54-year-old woman of West Newfield with theft.
Police arrested and charged a 48-year-old Alfred Road resident with violating conditions of release. Police found her at Cummings Market when investigating suspicious activity after the store had closed.
After a resident’s complaint of erratic driving on Portland Road, police arrested and charged a 22-year-old Cat Mousam Road resident with operating under the influence, drinking in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.
Police received a call about a vehicle off the road, which led to charging a 26-year-old Biddeford man with operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration.
Police arrested and charged a 51-year-old Biddeford man with operating under the influence after they received a call in regard to an accident at the intersection of Alewive and Thompson roads.
After responding to a call from the Lodge at Kennebunk, police determined a 35-year-old Alewive Road man had threatened someone prior to their arrival. They charged him with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
Police located a vehicle on Old Falls Road on its roof in the wood line, but after an extensive search they were unable to locate a driver. With further investigation, police charged a 21-year-old Wells man with failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Police responded to a call in regard to suspicious activity and arrested and charged a Medford, Mass. resident with stalking.
Kennebunkport
Police arrested and charged a 49-year-old of Saco with operating after suspension and displaying a fictitious inspection sticker after an observed motor vehicle violation.
Following an accident investigation, police charged a 21-year-old Biddeford resident with operating under the influence.
Following an investigation of a single motor vehicle crash on Old Cape Road, police charged a 23-year-old Wildes District Road resident with operating under the influence.
Police charged a 20-year-old Mills Road resident with failure to provide evidence of insurance after a single vehicle crash on School Street.
A 47-year-old Arundel resident was charged with operating under the influence after police were called to the scene of a vehicle off the road on Turbat’s Creek Road.
Police and rescue were called to the scene of a 23-year-old Kennebunk man lying in the middle of Beachwood Avenue. He appeared to be intoxicated and was transported to Southern Maine Medical Center and later charged with violating conditions of release.
As police responded to a noise complaint on Goose Rocks Road, a 23-year-old resident fled into the woods. Kennebunk and Wells police were called to assist in apprehending him. After the pursuit, he was arrested and charged with violating conditions of release and obstructing government administration.
Police charged a 70-year-old Bel Air Avenue resident with a domestic assault after a report of a domestic disturbance.
