Two arrested following alleged home invasion (Jan. 30, 2009)
Kennebunk Police reported responding to a call from a Heath Road resident regarding a forced entry into her home at approximately 1:30 a.m. Jan. 24. After a brief physical confrontation the caller forced the alleged burglar back outside. Police said he attempted to re-enter through another door. The caller’s husband approached the intruder, fired a shotgun into the air and the individual fled into nearby woods, police said. Officers requested assistance from Maine State Police, as well as a Wells Police Department officer and his canine. During a roaming patrol of the area, Sean Barker, 23, of Richmond, was found allegedly attempting to enter a nearby Summer Street home. He matched the description given by the caller and was immediately taken into custody to be questioned, police said.
Shortly after the first call was received, several neighbors called to report two men running through their backyards, which led police to believe there was a second man at large. Police initiated a second search and found Eric Wallace, 22, of Topsham, in the same Summer Street home Barker attempted to enter, which was later determined to be the home of Wallace’s mother, police said.
After further investigation and evidence collection, Barker and Wallace were both charged with burglary and as of press time Tuesday, they were being held at the York County Jail with bail set at $10,000 each.
