Corrections and clarifications (Feb. 20, 2009)

A headline on the front page of the Feb. 13 issue was incorrect. Kennebunk selectmen have not decided to keep the town’s social service director. As the story makes clear, members of that board met to discuss a proposal to eliminate that position a well as others with the town’s budget board. No descision had been made about those proposals. It was the editor’s error.

In the story entitled “Regional school units chart course” on page 5 contained some inaccurate information. MSAD 71 Business Administrator Jim Barnes estimates that the cost of start up will be $75,000, not $25,000. Also, Sandra MacArthur is deputy executive director of Maine School Management Association. MSAD 71 and Arundel are members of MSMA and the superintendent search seminar is a service that is included in dues.

In the Weekly Interview with Pamela Desantis Tachibana, it was reported that Tachibana’s father discoraged her from art. It should have read that her father discouraged her from a career in art.
