Letter: Climate change a present danger (March 6, 2009)
Your readers may be interested in the most recent fall-winter issue of the “Maine Policy Review,” a publication of the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center in which Editor Ann Acheson introduces the largest issue of the publication by stating, “Human use of fossil fuels is the primary cause of greenhouse gas emissions, which are demonstrably leading to global climate change.” She goes on to say, “Dealing with climate change may well be the defining policy issue for this century.”
U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe leads off with a dramatic statement by stating, “America is confronting the pressing and pervasive threat of global climate change.”
The superb issue deserves consideration by all interested in environmental topics confronted by citizens of the 21st Century.
