Regional school budget passes (May 28, 2009)


After preliminary approval of the Regional School Unit 21 budget May 5, voters in Arundel, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport turned out in spare numbers to vote for final approval of the $36.2 million budget May 19. 

In Arundel, 3 percent of voters turned out, with 56 residents in favor of the budget and 32 opposed. Kennebunk voters approved the budget by a margin of six votes out of 581, with 6 percent of voters casting ballots. Kennebunkport had 8 percent of voters at the polls, approving the budget with 160 residents in favor and 46 residents opposed to the budget.
