Wedding wish granted
The Coastal House an event venue in Wells announce Michale Boucher and Jessica Perrault as winners of a wedding wish. The Coastal House along with Weddings Made Easy and a team of wedding professionals developed “The Wedding Wish,” a presentation to one deserving couple of a once in a lifetime dream wedding earlier this year.
Perrault, of Shapleigh and Boucher had a moving story which captured the hearts of the Wedding Wish team. Although the team had many entries deserving of a fairy tale wedding, they could only grant one wish.
Boucher submitted as a surprise for his intended a video “imploring” the team to consider he and Perrault for the wedding wish. Their story and video were captivating. An army soldier training to become an MP, Boucher is stationed in Virginia. Perrault’s father is an injured veteran of the Iraq wars and was deployed throughout her childhood. The decision for Boucher to pursue the military as his career was challenging for both of them. Despite the personal impact military life has had on her, Perrault has been supportive of Boucher throughout the last two years. Perrault is continuing her education for a nursing degree at the University of Southern Maine while Boucher completes his military training.
Perrault and Boucher will begin planning their November wedding that will include a ceremony and reception at the Coastal House, floral arrangements by Calluna, bridal gowns from Bridals by Sandy, tuxedos from Tuxedos on Broadway, invitations by Village Paperie, table decorations by Beach Grass, makeup at Cottage Breeze Day Spa, bridal hair design at Studio 41, bridal jewelry from Arbitrage, bridal lingerie from Victorian Affair, a cake from Let Them Eat Cake, photography by Double-Take Photography, limousine transportation from Maine Limousine, the music of the band “Shadowplay” and a honeymoon suite at the Kennebunkport Inn.
Police to look out for drunk drivers
After having received a grant from the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, the Kennebunk Police Department will conduct a safety checkpoint on Friday, July 3. Each year, the bureau makes federal funds available to full-time law enforcement agencies to conduct checkpoints, special patrols or both during a designated time between June and September as part of its “High Visibility Impaired Driving Enforcement Program.” Maine’s enforcement program runs in conjunction with the national “Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest” campaign.
Drunk driving is one of America’s deadliest crimes. During 2004, nearly 13,000 people were killed in highway crashes involving an impaired driver or motorcycle operator with an illegal blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher. The picture for motorcycle operators is particularly bleak. Of the 1,672 motorcycle operators who died in single-vehicle crashes in 2004, 41 percent had levels of .08 or higher.
Lt. Anthony Burpee, who is helping organize the checkpoint and saturation patrols, said, “Driving with a BAC of .08 or higher is illegal in every state. Drunk driving is simply not worth the risk. Not only do you risk killing yourself or someone else, but the trauma and financial costs of a crash or an arrest for impaired driving can be significant. Violators often face jail time, the loss of their driver’s license, higher insurance rates, attorney fees, time away from work, and lots of additional unforeseen expenses.”
