Letter: Generosity saves vacation (July 10, 2009)

Editor:

On June 20, my husband, 2-year-old daughter and I arrived at our vacation rental property near Goose Rocks Beach to find another family unpacking their car. Without knowing the situation the owner of the property, Sandy Noble, rushed over the property and said “I will make it right.” As it turns out, the property wasn’t double booked but I was a week late to our vacation rental! She had left the keys the house assuming it had been used the week prior.

My husband and I were so disappointed. We had been looking forward to this vacation all year. We had plans for our families to come visit throughout the week. We were getting ready to return to our home in Melrose, Mass. and call our families to tell them my mix up.

Sandy Noble (owner of Noble and True Cleaning) not only refunded our money but she spent two hours with me at her house, patiently trying to locate a four-bedroom house available the same day. After several calls, she found us a five-bedroom house overlooking the harbor in Cape Porpoise. She truly went above and beyond. We are fortunate to have crossed paths with such a kind and generous person. Kennebunkport is lucky to have her!
