Kennebunk and Kennebunkport residents approved all local referendum questions Tuesday, including a proposal in Kennebunk to enhance its downtown.
Kennebunk residents voted 2,896 to 2,250 to approve borrowing $1.3 million from the town’s Tax Increment Financing district fund to make downtown improvements.
Residents voted down the project in June for a little more than $2 million.
Town Manager Barry Tibbetts said the next step is for selectmen to discuss awarding bids at an upcoming meeting.
The board will then meet with the contractor to talk about a timeline for the project.
Tibbetts also said now, the town’s Economic Development Commission will probably start putting information together to help businesses locate to the downtown and how the changes will benefit them.
Kennebunk residents also voted to allow a Webber Hill contract zone to allow construction of a cell tower. Residents voted 3,760 to 1,262.
