Letter: Spirit alive and well (Printed Dec. 25, 2009)
To the editor:
I am grateful for the letter my neighbor Tibor Kormendy wrote pointing out the changes that have taken place since his arrival in the U.S.A. in 1964 from a communist and atheistic system (Letter, “Censoring Christmas Spirit,” Dec. 18.)
Those who have lost their freedom know of its value, while those of us who have always been blessed with it take for granted that our freedoms and traditions will never be removed.
Here in Maine where HGTV voted Kennebunkport as the No. 2 Christmas town in America, and where the Prelude celebration is filled with activities and Christmas spirit, is also a place where it is nice to hear the joyful greetings of “wishing you a merry Christmas.”
Merry Christmas
