Raymond Thyng
Raymond C. Thyng, 86, of Arundel died at his home, Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 surrounded by his family.
He was born April 11, 1923, the fourth sibling of 16 children of Grover C. and Virgie N. (Newcomb) Thyng.
He graduated from Kennebunk High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was stationed at Fort Ord in California. After the war, he was employed by the former Christensen Ford of Kennebunk as a mechanic for more than 20 years, then he worked for Andrews Enterprises for several years. After his retirement, he worked at odd jobs and small engine repair at his home.
Raymond enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the York Lodge of West Kennebunk and Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Kennebunk where he was a 50-year member and a past Grand Master of Maine in 1995
Raymond Thyng was predeceased by his wife Mildred (Andrews) Thyng; two brothers Clarence and Donald Thyng; four sisters Lillian Mathews, Evelyn Court, Betty Lovewell and Phyllis Smith and by his son-in-law Raymond Bolduc.
He is survived by his son James Thyng and his wife Debbie of Arundel; his daughter Janice Bolduc of West Kennebunk; four grandchildren, Tasha and Joshua Thyng and Anthony and Eric Bolduc and his wife Alicia; one great-grandchild, Libby Bolduc; three brothers John Thyng of Kennebunk, Sherman Thyng of Lyman, Robert Thyng of Florida; four sisters Pauline Morrill of Waterboro, Barbara Burns of Alfred, Ruth Andrews of Kennebunk and Gloria Foss of Florida and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Arnold Whitehouse
Arnold Alden “Whitie” Whitehouse, Sr., 88, died at home in his beloved Cape Porpoise Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. He was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on April 23, 1921, the son of Arnold Arthur Whitehouse and Muriel Anna (Breads) Whitehouse. He was educated at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass., and attended Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. prior to joining the U.S. Army Air Force, where he became a pilot, and eventually a pilot trainer.
On Oct. 27, 1945, he married Eleanor Shedd in North Ferrisburg, Vt. Together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
After leaving active military duty, he worked at Berkshire Coated Paper in Great Barrington, Mass., then as a salesman at Mathias Paper Corporation in Pennsylvania. He also held various positions at Ski Skoal Ski Shop, Harris Company in Portland, Pepperell Mills, and the Cape Porpoise Pier Corporation. Arnold was the owner of AAW Lobster Company, which operated out of Cape Porpoise harbor. He served the town of Kennebunkport as both shellfish warden, and municipal parking lot attendant.
He enjoyed sailing, canoeing, and clamming.
Arnold Whitehouse was predeceased by two sisters, Juni (Muriel) Ludwig of Cape Porpoise, and Ann Miller of Cape Porpoise and Tenant’s Harbor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; brother Hale Edward Whitehouse of Cape Porpoise; sister Sky Pennell of Orgeon; daughter Eleanor Zwick and her husband Jack of North Carolina; two sons, Arnold A. (Buddy) Whitehouse, Jr., and his wife Mimi and Jonathan Whitehouse and his wife Miriam of Kennebunk; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, stretching from Maine to Florida.
The family wishes to express their thanks for the loving care given by Dr. Nathan Wilson, the nurses and aides from Beacon Hospice, and the Church on the Cape.
