Letter: Plunge raised $20,000 (Printed Jan. 22, 2010)
To the editor:
This past Saturday marked the ninth annual Atlantic Plunge fundraiser for Caring Unlimited. This event, started by a generous member of our community in 2002, has grown into the annual, highly anticipated and well attended celebration of the New Year that it is today.
Caring Unlimited thanks Ocean Bank, the event sponsor of the year for the second consecutive year, along with the other event sponsors: American Styrenics, McGarry & Holmes, LLC, Osterman & Company, Prescott, Jamieson, Nelson & Murphy, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, Attorney Wendy Starkey, Carthuplas, Paquin & Carroll Insurance, Saco Valley Credit Union, Sanford Institution for Savings, Southern Maine Medical Center, Worldwide Risk Management, Inc., Corning Life Sciences, Fred Church Insurance, Maine Manufacturing, Resin Distribution, The Buckley Group and the Wells Chamber of Commerce.
Caring Unlimited is also so thankful for the 72 plungers who braved the cold temperatures and raised more than $9,000 in pledges. This year’s event total is more than $20,000. All the money raised through sponsorships, pledges and donations goes directly to supporting women, children and men of York County whose lives are affected by domestic abuse. Thanks to our community for supporting us in our mission to end domestic violence in York County.
