Letter: Board has lost confidence (Printed May 21, 2010)
I request Arundel residents read the April 28 selectmen’s meeting minutes available at www.arundelmaine.org. I believe the minutes to be evidence that our board of selectmen have surrendered their right to be trusted by Arundel citizens by cutting deals, operating outside of meetings and not upholding existing ordinances. All of this is part of a plan to vote for any business, for any reason, consequences be damned. The board has been told by practicing attorneys during the past year that they are likely operating outside of ordinances and yet ignore those warnings.
Arundel citizens will foot the bill for any defense Arundel has to expend in the courts. I do not believe Dana Peck, Byron Kindley, Velma Jones and Mark Paulin deserve to continue as elected representatives of our community. After you read the minutes, ask yourself if this is who you want making decisions about the town we live in or where your home is located. I ask that you get involved and consider a recall of the aforementioned individuals.
Velma Jones and Dana Peck are running unopposed this year, I suggest a write-in campaign to get a board that can be trusted.
