Letter: Bump-outs are bummers (Printed July 16, 2010)
To the editor:
I would like to express my opposition to the Kennebunk downtown bump-outs (“Board questions bump-out design,” July 2, page 8). I agree with Selectman Bob Higgins’s recent motion to eliminate them from the downtown project, and to return the street to its former, straight-line design.
What looked good on paper is a disaster in reality, and that’s without the bump-outs that are proposed for the western side of Main Street. I know what the “experts” said, but they’re wrong. The design isn’t working. Please listen to the common-sense concerns from the town’s residents.
It’s time to cut our losses and contain the costs by eliminating the bump-outs, now.
